Restaurant Opportunities Center of Los Angeles

ROC-Los Angeles

Who are we?

Launched in September 2009, the Restaurant Opportunities Center of Los Angeles (ROC-LA) is dedicated to winning improved conditions and raising industry standards for all Los Angeles metro restaurant workers.

What we do:

Training and Job Placement

ROC-LA is offering free training in fine dining waiter/waitress, bartending, as well as ESL classes for restaurant workers.  ROC-LA will be using the comprehensive training programs that ROC has developed in New York City, where it trains more than 500 workers per year in its cooperatively-owned restaurant.  Most of these workers have obtained good jobs in the industry.  ROC-LA will help to both train and place restaurant workers into good jobs.

Surveys and Research

We are currently conducting a study on the Los Angeles restaurant industry to learn more about the experience of restaurant workers and employers. The results of this study will be used to help us develop our programs and build public recognition of restaurant workers' contributions to Los Angeles.
